BBA Degree Requirements

The BBA program is a minimum of 123 credit hours. We have four emphasis areas available:

  • Enterprise Management
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Marketing

Bloch School courses are offered either during the day or at night.


Freshman/Sophomore Years:

Humanities – 12 credit hours
These courses include public speaking and English I and II.

Natural Sciences – 8 credit hours
These courses can include biology, chemistry, geology, astronomy, earth sciences, environmental sciences, physical sciences and physics. One laboratory component is required.

Social Sciences – 6 credit hours
These courses can include psychology, sociology, criminal justice, history or political science. Three credit hours of this total must cover the U.S. and Missouri constitutions.

Basic Skills Requirement – 24 credit hours
These courses can include selections from accounting, economics, and math, and are designed to give you the skills you need to complete the BBA’s core requirements in your junior and senior years.

Non-Business Electives - 7 credit hours
These courses can include computer science, a foreign language—whatever will be helpful in your career that is not specifically a business course. Courses for a minor can also be taken as electives.

Fine Arts Requirement - 3 credit hours
These courses can include (but are not limited to) completion of Art 110 or 110P, Environmental Design 110, Theater 130 or 210 or Conservatory 120.

Before being admitted to the junior/senior portion of the program, you must pass Microsoft Specialist Certification exams in both Excel and PowerPoint.


Junior/Senior Years: Business Administration specifics

Core Requirements - 39 credit hours
This is where you put the Basic Skills requirement to work. These courses include management, finance, ethics, human resources, and leadership.

Emphasis Area Courses – 15 credit hours
After choosing your emphasis area, you’ll take five courses specifically chosen for that emphasis area to round out your degree and focus your education.

Electives – 9 credit hours
These courses include electives of your choice that can be business courses or non-business courses.
