Designed Specifically for
the Staff of Foundations and Other Grantmaking Organizations
FACULTY
The Grantmaker’s Institute is facilitated
by two professionals with extensive experience in the field of
philanthropy, Gene Wilson and Dave Renz:
-
Gene has had a distinguished national career in grantmaking and
philanthropy, including service as President of the ARCO Foundation
and Senior Vice President of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
He has provided leadership to numerous regional and national
nonprofit sector initiatives, including current work on new
leadership and management development initiatives for both the
Council on Foundations and Independent Sector.

Dave Renz, an experienced educator, researcher, and consultant,
serves as the director of the Midwest Center for Nonprofit
Leadership at UMKC. In addition to his teaching and writing on
nonprofit organization and board effectiveness, Renz has played
leadership roles in the development of many nonprofit agencies and
served as an advisor and consultant to Kansas City and national
foundations, including the Pew Charitable Trusts and the McKnight
Foundation.

In
addition, Wilson and Renz will draw upon series participants
themselves, as well as guest presenters, to offer additional
perspectives and insight on the nature of this challenging and
rewarding work.
