HEALTH FOUNDATION LEADERS

Steve Roling, President and CEO of the Health
Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City and Brenda Sharpe,
President and CEO of The REACH Healthcare Foundation will talk about
the development and priorities of each of their foundations, formed from
the sale of Health Midwest. Together, they will discuss the benefits of
their collaborative, regional approach to community health issues. In
addition, they will each share their reflections on trends in the
nonprofit sector of our metropolitan area.
Steve Roling comes to his current position with a
distinguished career of leadership in the community through his work in
the worlds of nonprofit agencies, business, foundations, and national
and state government. His past positions include: legislative assistant
to Senator Tom Eagleton, publisher of the Kansas City Business
Journal, senior vice president of the Ewing Marion Kauffman
Foundation, and Director of the Missouri Department of Social Services.
Steve’s undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the University of
Missouri in Columbia.
Brenda Sharpe brings to her position an impressive
career in the nonprofit direct service field, having worked in a
domestic violence shelter, rape crisis center, substance abuse
prevention center and child advocacy center. She is the former
president and CEO of Sunflower House, where she led the organization for
ten years. Brenda’s undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Kansas
State University.
