Session III: TO ENDOW OR NOT TO ENDOW
May 8, 2007
(7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.)
Breakfast
at 7:30 a.m.
Program starts promptly at 7:45
a.m.
Almost every day, some nonprofit
leaders lament to us that they wish they had an endowment or that they
had a larger endowment. Their wish for a regular recurring source of
unrestricted funds certainly is understandable, but is an endowment
always the answer? Are there nonprofits that should not pursue
endowment? Join us as two of the Midwest Center’s Senior Fellows, Gary
Baker and David Stallings, discuss their perspectives on the use of this
financial strategy and challenge each other on their answers to the
question of “To Endow or Not to Endow?” David Renz, director of the
Midwest Center, will moderate this Breakfast Forum discussion as we
explore the merits of whether an endowment strategy is right for your
organization.
