Jim Klanke, Class of 2007
President, Global Project Management Group
“The Leadership Growth Program was most beneficial to me, mainly in terms of enhancing my self awareness of my skills. The 360 Assessment revealed my weaknesses and strengths from the perspective of my peers, my bosses and myself. This created a splendid opportunity for me to grow as a leader using the feedback and coaching I received in the LGP. I established an “action plan” based on these findings. This plan paved the path for me to improve my ability to work with C-level executives and to listen more effectively. I, also, was able to capitalize and understand through the LGP how to use political savvy, which my peers and bosses identified in the 360 as one of my strengths (unrecognized by me). The confidence I gained from understanding I possessed this strength enabled me to lead an effort to initiate changes for the Dept. of Defense. As part of the action plan for C-levels, the LGP suggested I read “The Trusted Advisor” which I refer to continuously."

Aime Lenz, Class of 2008
Owner, Velvet Bridge LLC
“I experienced a mindset shift within the UMKC EMBA program about the power of leadership and my own abilities to lead.  Cumulatively, through 360 degree feedback, executive coaching, team feedback and reflection, I gained the self awareness to develop a personal leadership style. My colleagues commented almost immediately as to this apparent shift and since then, my opportunities have expanded in leading new products and teams to commercialization.”

Steve Reed, Class of 2007
Shared Services Manager, Embarq
“The Leadership Growth Programs in the EMBA program were invaluable. It taught me to really look inside myself to define what kind of leader I am and more important, what kind of leader I want to be. Further, I learned a great deal about developing other leaders whether they are reports, peers or supervisors. This kind of introspection and insight was just as important to as the traditional MBA curriculum.”
