Degree Requirements
The Executive Master of Public Administration degree is awarded on completion of at least 39 semester hours, consisting of 30 hours of required core courses and 9 – 12 hours of electives, usually in a selected emphasis area. Elective courses may be selected from PA courses including the student’s chosen emphasis area and may include the Study Abroad South Africa Residency. The electives may also be selected from political science, economics, psychology, sociology or other graduate fields with approval of the faculty advisor.
Academic Standing and Continuing Enrollment: Students are responsible for keeping apprised of their academic status by referring to their semester grades. To remain in good academic standing, students enrolled in the graduate program must at a minimum meet the following University requirements:
- A minimum 3.0 (B) grade point average (GPA) is required for all UMKC courses for which graduate credit is given.
- No course with a grade below B- in any 300-or 400-level course or below C in any 500-level course or above will count as credit toward a graduate degree program; however, these grades will be included in the calculation of a student’s GPA.
- 80% of the credits for the degree must be passed with a grade of B or better.
