David R. Kuipers, associate professor of finance, joined the UMKC Bloch School faculty in 2004. He teaches undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA coursework in the areas of fixed income analysis, derivative securities and corporate finance. Kuipers received his BS in electrical engineering from Iowa State University, MS in finance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and PhD in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Kuipers’ research interests are in the areas of market efficiency, asset pricing models, corporate finance and fixed income analysis, with special attention to the U.S. Treasury market and related securities. His current projects include the study of embedded quality options in U.S. Treasury futures contracts, the price behavior of deliverable-grade U.S. Treasury bonds and a case study addressing an alleged market corner in the 10-year U.S. Treasury note futures market.
Kuipers has won several national and regional awards for his research papers, and has presented his findings at more than fifty academic seminars and conferences across the country. His research has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Futures Markets, Journal of Financial Research, Financial Review, Journal of Bond Trading and Management, Journal of Applied Finance and International Review of Economics and Finance, among others.
