Georgia Smedley is an assistant professor of accounting at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration. She earned her PhD in business administration with an emphasis on accounting at Oklahoma State University and her master of science in accountancy (MSA) at the University of Arkansas.           

Smedley’s teaching emphases are in accounting systems, controls and advanced accounting systems topics. Her primary research interest is in the behavioral use of intelligent systems; she has also developed a number of accounting systems cases and has investigated aspects of XBRL usability and content.

Her work has been published in top academic journals, including Journal of Information Systems; International Journal of Accounting Information Systems; National Accounting Journal; Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting; and Journal of Applied Business Research. Smedley has served the American Accounting Association’s Information Systems section in several capacities and has been on the editorial board of the Journal of Accounting Education since 2005.

She has earned several teaching awards, including “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” in 2003 and 2005.
