Strategic Communication for Executives
How to Be Seen and Heard as a Trusted Leader in Your Organization
Instructor: Charmaine McClarie
Class Date(s): May 22
Class Length: 1 day / 9:00AM - 4:00PM
What You Will Learn
You have your eye on the prize, a senior level position. You are technically sound, hard working and diligent--the go-to person to execute the plan, but not yet the person chosen to lead and create the vision. What’s missing? What is it that a chosen leader has that you don’t? How can you become more visible and valuable in matters of strategic importance?
Often, the answer comes down to what you say and how you say it. To be seen and heard as a trusted leader in your organization you must become a strategic communicator.
In this one-day, interactive course you will discover the importance of strategic communication and how it affects your leadership presence. You will participate in hands-on exercises designed to help you move from being an effective leadership technician to a leader who makes an impact.
Another aspect is strategic preparedness. Some good moves in your organization are simply that—good moves—and no more. Other actions have strategic implications that improve your chances of achieving your leadership goal. It is essential to know the difference and to maximize your ability to perform strategically.
The course will cover:
- The essential characteristics of successful leadership
- How to identify and address blind spots in your communication
- Ways to exploit and develop your leadership strengths through communication
- Communication techniques to develop alliances and inspire others to align to your vision
- how to leverage communication to identify significant leadership opportunities in your organization
Strategic Communications for Executives is designed to train you to speak like a leader, carry yourself like a leader and in the process become a leader. Through this course, you will learn how to strategically navigate interactions with a variety of people in your organization. Whether you’re engaged in an executive roundtable or a water cooler conversation, this course will prepare you to effectively communicate your message with impact, authority and confidence. By the end of the course you will be equipped with practical communication skills and tactics that will enable you to be seen and heard as a leader in your organization.
