Community Economic Development CertificateThe Cookingham Institute of Urban Affairs offers a Certificate in Community Economic Development. This program includes two one-hour credit courses on the planning context and finance tools/techniques, and one two hour credit course on application methods. Upon completion of all three courses, the attendees will be awarded a Certificate in Community Economic Development. The intent of this series is to familiarize attendees with a structured, reliable process of community economic development, emphasizing urban redevelopment. Most particularly, the Certificate Program provides exposure to revitalization techniques and the opportunity to explore application methods through active simulation exercises and community changing reinvestment approaches. To register, download the Spring 2008 Brochure: Spring 2008 Course Dates: PA 565A: The Planning Context explores the urban planning process, urban development approaches, and professional planning roles and culture.
PA 565B: Tools and Techniques focuses on the environment of community economic development, legal and financial tools, and the opportunities and pitfalls of deal structuring.
PA 565C: Effective Implementation includes a review, simulation exercises, and assessment methods, along with a recap of the planning framework, public, private and not for profit perspectives on development.
The Cookingham Institute will not be offering the Commuity Economic Development Certificate in Fall 2008. |
