International Study in Business: Germany
Munich, Germany in 2010

Study international business and travel to Munich, Germany!
Faculty:
Dr. Stephen A. DeLurgio, Professor of Operations Management, will lead the Munich program. Dr. DeLurgio has been involved in several study abroad and EMBA programs in Germany. He may be contacted at delurgios@umkc.edu.
Dr. Jae Jung, Assistant Professor of International Business, will assist Dr. DeLurgio. Dr. Jung has participated in previous trips. You can contact him at jungjc@umkc.edu.
Course Scheduling:
The course will meet on the UMKC campus on selected weekends during February, March and April, 2010. The one week international residency takes place in May 2010.
Possible activities in Germany:
- Business and political visits to international and local companies such as Siemens, BMW, Allianz Insurance, Erdinger Brewery, KUKA Robotics, Bavarian Parliament, and others.
- Cultural visits will include Munich, Neuschwanstein, and Salzburg, Austria and/or several other popular locations, see http://bloch.umkc.edu/forecast/studyabroad for more information.
Costs:
Students are responsible for the following program costs:
- $500 deposit* to be submitted with the program application. The deposit, less $100, is refundable until accommodations must be finalized (by January 31st). If an application is rejected, the entire deposit will be refunded. This deposit covers accommodations.
- 3 hours tuition.
- International airfare to/from Germany.
- Meals in Germany.
- Local transportation costs.
- Miscellaneous expenses including entry fees to cultural sites.
- Incidentals.
- Passport cost, if you do not have a passport
- University required HTH Health Insurance
*Students may be required to pay additional funds prior to the trip to cover added cost of accommodations or other trip related expenses. Currency fluctions may also impact additional costs.
Post-Trip:
An optional three day post trip to Rothenberg ob der Tauber, Germany and Innsbruck, Austria is available.
Rothenberg is a preserved medieval village with restaurants, shops and cultural attactions. The town's charm and beauty cannot be captured in photographs.
Innsbruck, Austria hosted the 1976 Winter Olympics. Beautiful mountain views and the Alpine Zoo are just two of the city's attractions.
An administrative fee of $100 is charged for participation in the post trip. Students are responsible for their transportation costs, accommodation expense, meals and entrance fees. Payment for some of these expenses may be collected in the spring to ensure availability of rooms, etc.
