KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City announces the appointment of Walter Clements to the position of director for the Lewis White Real Estate Center (LWREC).
A top-producing real estate professional and consultant, Clements is past-president and past-part owner of Overland Park-based Greenleaf Properties, Inc., as well as president and owner of CARET, Ltd., a consulting company that provides training and consulting for corporate real estate departments, brokerage companies and individuals. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Bloch, having taught the Real Estate Market Analysis and Real Estate Investment courses in 2007.
Clements earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on marketing from Central Michigan University, his real estate certificate from the University of Michigan and his master’s degree in real estate and construction management from the Burns School of Business at the University of Denver.
In his new role, Clements will be responsible for beginning open enrollment in real estate course offerings for both students and real estate professionals in the community. He will work to develop a real estate club for students as well as engage real estate professionals as speakers and champions for the program.
“LWREC is already enjoying success in the Kansas City real estate community, and I look forward to being part of the program’s growth,” says Clements. “Our first two class offerings were booked to maximum capacity. Having local experts eager to participate in the coursework makes our curriculum even more valuable. And the impact on our community is already being evidenced by the fact that we have students that have already been hired by new and existing real estate firms.”
Clements brings an extensive knowledge of both local and international real estate to Bloch, having traveled internationally to teach for the University of International Business and Economics of Beijing, China, The Polish Federation of Realtors in Warsaw, Poland and the Russian Guild of Realtors in Moscow, Russia. He has also trained real estate departments in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Thailand.
Prior to Greenleaf and CARET, Clements spent 13 years as a senior vice president and principal with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker in Kansas City, Mo.
In addition to numerous advanced real estate certificates and designations, Clements has earned top awards, including being named to the Multi-Million Dollar Club with the Kansas City Metropolitan Board of Realtors, and the People’s Choice award for Outstanding Instructional Performance from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. Clements has also written and published articles for professional publications, including Case and Comment and National Real Estate Advisor. Clements currently resides in Overland Park, Kan.
