Release Date: Oct 19, 2009

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a ceremony at City Hall, Kansas City mayor Mark Funkhouser presented a proclamation to the Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The proclamation was awarded in response to a recent ranking from the Princeton Review, and was received by Bloch School Dean Teng-Kee Tan. It will go down in history as a milestone for Kansas City.
The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Bloch School of Business and Public Administration was ranked last month by the Princeton Review among the top 25 graduate entrepreneurship programs nationally, putting UMKC and the Bloch school in the top tier of entrepreneurial colleges and business schools in the country, beating out 2,300 other schools including MIT, Harvard and Princeton.
The proclamation stated that Bloch’s entrepreneurship program was evaluated “based on key criteria in the areas of academic requirements, students and faculty, and outside-the-classroom experiences,” along with “course offerings, success of students after graduation and sponsored mentorship programs.”
In addition, the proclamation noted “being included in the ranking solidifies the program’s place in an elite category of institutions offering a superlative level of education and preparedness that will play a key role in ensuring the success of tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.”
"Kansas City is proud of the accomplishments of UMKC's Bloch School and the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” Mayor Mark Funkhouser notes. “As an alumnus of the Bloch School, I was pleased be able to honor them for this milestone."
