Welcome from the Dean

Teng-Kee Tan, PhD
Dean and Harzfeld Professor of Technology Entrepreneurship

Imagine a place where students are engaged in active learning in and outside the classroom. Imagine a place where faculty are engaged in creating new knowledge and ideas through significant research, and connecting with the community through executive education programs, consulting activities, and service on boards and other venues.

Imagine a place where entrepreneurship and innovation is not just a class, it is a way of thinking across all disciplines. Imagine a place where the faculty and staff form a focused team that takes very seriously a promise to build a nationally pre-eminent school of business and public administration, committed to personalized student attention, thought leadership, and diversity of thought and connected to a strong network of supporters throughout the greater Kansas City region and beyond.

Imagine a place where the marriage of for-profit business education and non-profit public administration education give students a cross-platform edge not found anywhere else.

Actually it doesn’t take a lot of imagination. It just takes a visit to the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration. The Bloch School already has several top tier programs with a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, executive education and leadership.

Welcome to the Bloch Web site, where I hope you find answers to your questions. Please feel free to contact me with your comments or questions at blochdean@umkc.edu.

Sincerely,

Teng-Kee Tan
